About Deborah Bartlett


Biography

Deborah Gardner, daughter of Stephen Gardner, was born about 1660 in Swansea, Bristol, Massachusetts Bay Colony, and died in Providence, Rhode Island about 1720.

She first married blacksmith Abraham Harding in 1676 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. He was the son of Stephen Harding and Bridget Estance. Abraham died November 23, 1694 in Providence.

Her second husband was Moses Bartlett (1672-25 Jan 1753), son of John Bartlett and Sarah Aldrich. They married 5 Mar 1696 in Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island.

Notes

1694, Dec. 18. Inventory of Abraham's estate was presented to his widow Deborah, who desired administration, but had no bondsman. Thus the question of his probate was referred to the next meeting.

1696, Mar 3. The widow, having lately changed her condition by marriage to Moses Bartlett, administration was given to her and her now husband on the former husband's estate. They were to give account and bond by the next meeting.

1698, Apr 12. Administration on his estate was finally given to Moses Bartless and wife Deborah, and the children were committed to their care.

1711, Jan. 13. Moses Bartlett deeded land to his son-in-law and stepson John Harding. The next year John sold land to his brother Stephen.[3]
