Born In: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Born: April 12th, 1961 Passed in: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed on: September 13th, 2011 It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Debbie Osmond, 50, of Sydney Mines, on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sydney Mines on April 12, 1961, she was the daughter of Theresa (Dawe) and the late John Edmund (Ebby) Gardiner. She was a member of Immaculate Conception parish, Sydney Mines. Debbie was the owner/operator of the Village Kitchen Restaurant in Baddeck. She was well known for her involvement and support in the community of Baddeck, and especially the Alderwood Guest Home. She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Fred Osmond; son, Joshua (Natasha Harrietha), at home; her mother, Theresa; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Wilma Osmond; sister, Wendy (Derrick) Burton; brother, Howie (Edwina Gardiner); nieces, Brittany and Alicia Burton; nephew, Shawn Burton; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her father, Ebby Gardiner in May 2011. There will be no visitation. A mass celebrating her life will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will be held in the John J. Nugent Firemen’s Centre, Sydney Mines, following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Debbie’s memory may be made to the Alderwood Guest Home, or to the Alzheimers Society. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at jmjobesfuneralhome@ns.aliantzinc.ca. Her family would like to remind everyone about the importance of organ donation.
