About Dee C. Chuan

Dee C. Chuan founded Fookien Times and Chinese Commercial News. He owned and ran Negros Philippines Lumber Company, Singbe Transportation Company, Dee C. Chuan and Sons, and Philippine Lumber Manufacturing Company, among other companies. He founded Chinabank in August of 1920. Later on, he was joined by Albino SyCip who acted as the bank’s chairman. For two decades before his death, Dee C. Chuan’s leadership led Chinabank to become one of the biggest banks in the country.

In 1910, Dee married a Fujianese girl, Gan Tiak, and they had eight children.
