About Della Wilson Denning

Della Wilson Sant was born November 19, 1902, in Clifton, Idaho, to parents Walter and Abigail Wilson Sent. They were 29 and 25 years old in the 1910 U.S. Federal Census for Preston, Oneida, Idaho. Also in the home were Della's brothers, Merlin, 5, and Roscoe, 2. Della's parents had been married for 8 years. Walter's parents were from England, and Abbey's were born in Iowa and Utah, and all of their children were born in Idaho. Walter was working as a traveling salesman. In 1920, the family was living in McCammon, Bannock, Idaho, and a new son, Horace was 9 years old. The family owned their home free from a mortgage, and Walter was working as an electrical engineer.

Della married Nathan J. Denning on November 22, 1924, in the county of Los Angeles, California. At the time of their marriage, they were both living in Long Beach, California. Their witnesses were Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Pilling. Nathan J. Denning was the son of Daniel N. Denning and Sarah A. Jones. At the time of their marriage, they were both 22 years old. In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, they were living at 3434 Nile Street in San Diego, California, with their two children, Nathan D., 3, and Aaron S., 2. They are renting their home for $35.00 per month, they have a radio in their home, and Nathan is working as a Dairy Salesman.

Per U.S. City Directory Listings, in 1933 they were living at 5575 Lemon Avenue in Long Beach, California, and Nathan was working as a salesman, and in 1936-1937, they were living at 2313 East 11th Street in Long Beach, California, and Nathan is working as an auto salesman.

By 1939, they were living at 1032 La Verne Avenue, and Nathan was still working as a salesman. In the 1940 U.S. Federal Census for Compton, California, Della and Nathan and their children were living at 504 South Temple Avenue, in a home they are renting for $20 per month. A new daughter, JoAnn, has been born and is 7 years old. Nathan is working as a salesman for an auto retailer, and for the 9 weeks he worked at 44 hours per week in that profession during 1939, he earned income of $400.

In 1941 Della and Nathan were living at 1318 14th East in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Nathan is working as a salesman, and in 1944 they were living at 50 East 21st South in Salt Lake City. Why they moved to Salt Lake City from California is unknown. Nathan passed away in 1957, and is buried in the Holladay Memorial Park Cemetery, and his wife, Della Wilson Sant Denning, outlived her husband by 32 years, and passed away in February 23, 1989, at the age of 86. She is buried with her husband in Holladay.
