Notes

George Lewes, the father of George 1600, was actually born in 1572. This is noted on his gravestone at All Saint's parish church in Brenchley. The same gravestone indicates his death at 1631. This is corroborated by parish records that indicate his burial on July 2, 1631. The gravestone also indicates that he is buried with his wife, Denise Forman. Denise appears with a variety of spellings, but was born in 1579 and died in 1626. According to parish records, Denise and George 1572 were married in 1596 in Brenchley.
