) Thatcher Genealogy; page 92, 93; Honorable Colonel John Thatcher, b. Marblehead (then Salem) Massachusettts 17 March 1638-9; died at Yarmouth, Mass. 8 May 1713. Married (first) 6 Nov 1661 to Rebecca Winslow at Marshfield, Mass. They were the parents of three sons and five daughters. Married (second) 1 Jan 1683-4 Lydia Gorman, daughter of Col John Gorman and Desire Howland , as Yarmouth, Mass. Parents of four sons and eight daughters:
) Desire Thatcher (48); b. 24 Dec 1688; d. 6 May 1723; married Josiah Crocker.
) Thatcher Genealogy; page 133; Desire Thatcher (48), daughter of Hon. Col. John Thatcher was born at Yarmouth, Mass on 24 Dec 1688; died at Yarmouth on 6 May 1722 (Sabbath Morning); buried at Yarmouth in the old burying grounds. Gravestone inscription " Desire, wife of Ensign Josiah Crocker, died May 6th , 1722 in her 34th year." She married at Yarmouth (presumably) 10 April 1717 (0r 1718), to Captain Josiah Crocker, born at Barnstable, Mass. 8 Feb 1684. He resided at Barnstable, Mass.; he was a sea captain and an Ensign in the Military Service. He died at Nauset, according to the records, or at Annapolis, Rial, St. Mary's Harbor, on 10 Oct 1721, aged 37. He is supposed to be buried at Annapolis Royal, but a stone to his memory is erected in Old Burying Ground at Yarmouth thus enscribed, "Ensign Josiah Crocker died at sea October 10th, 1721 and was buried at Port Royal" (on the gravestone of his wife). He was a son of Josiah Crocker; (b. 19 Sept 1647; d. 2 Feb 1714-5) who married 23 Oct 1668 Meletiah Hinckley (b. ____; d. 2 Feb 1714/5), daughter of Gov. Thomas Hinckley.

) Captain Josiah Crocker was a sea captain and while on a voyage to Nova Scotia he was betrayed out of his course by an Irishman who pretended to be a pilot. He and all the crew were sick at the time. He died on board his own vessel at St. Mary's Harbor; Annapolis, Rial, October 10 1721 and was buried at Port Royal Oct 14, 1721, age 37.
