"Legation Presents Bridal Gift Today" The Minister of South Africa and Mrs. Andrews and all members of the staff gathered together at two today for tea and cakes, but it was not only to partake of the latter that they met. It was because of the forthcoming marriage of South African Agricultural Attache D. J. Gardner to brunette Canadian. Miss Florence H. Eagleton. Their wedding will take place next Saturday in the Sixth Presbyterian Church, with a reception following at Wardman Park—if, of course, the strike is over. The party today was for the purpose of presenting Mr. Gardner and his fiance with a wedding present from the entire Legation staff. The Minister will leave tomorrow for New York, but will return for the ceremony on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Woodward of the South African Legation will give a party for the engaged couple next week. Mr. Woodward will be best man for the bridegroom. Miss Eagleton, who is with the British Commonwealth Scientific Mission, has been in Washington 18 months. - https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83045462/1946-10-19/ed-1/...
