Biography Dinah Battee was born in 1654, England or Virginia and died 13 October 1698, in Anne Arundel, Maryland. There doesn't appear to be a source for the death date of 13 October 1698.[1]
Dinah Battee married her 1st husband Thomas Knighton before 1673[2] They were the parents of six children.
Children Mary Knighton, born 1673, married 1st Richard Harwood, married 2nd Joseph Jones Thomas Knighton, born 1675, married 1st Dorothy Wood, 2nd Mary Ellis, 3rd Jane Watkins Elizabeth Knighton, born 1677, died December 31, 1768, she married George Simmons/Symons. George Knighton, born 1679, died before 1705 Millicent Knighton, born 1681, died before 1701 Sarah Knighton, born 1683, died at six months of age Dinah' husband Thomas Knighton wrote his willl on August 12, 1684, it was probated on April 28, 1693. He mentioned wife Dynah, and appointed her as his Extx and residuary legatee. He included children: Mary, Eliza, Millicent, Thomas and George.[3] Dinah's brother Seaborn Battee wrote his will on January 2, 1687, and included his sister: "To sister Dinah, wife of Thomas Knighton, personalty."[4] Dinah Battee and 2nd husband Anthony Smith, he was a merchant, and was transported abt 1678, they had one son Samuel Smith, born on 14 May 1695, he was christened on June 26, 1698, at Saint James Parish, Anne Arundel, Maryland.[5][6]
Child with Anthony Smith Samuel Smith, born May 14, 1695, died 1748[7] Dinah's father Ferdinando Battee wrote his will on December 21, 1705, and included five grandchildren: Thomas Knighton, Samuel Battee, Samuell Smith, Mary Harwood and Elizabeth Simmons. Samuel Battee was the son of Seaborn Battee, the other four were the children of Dinah Battee Knighton Smith.[8] Dinah's 2nd husband Anthony Smith wrote his will May 6, 1711. He included his son with Dinah, "To only son and hr., Samuel, at 20 yrs, estate." He included his two brother-in-laws, sister-in-law, step-mother-in-law: "To kinsmen Benjamin and Ferdinando Batte, kinswoman Eliza Battee at 16 yrs., mother-in-law Eliza Hwood" There wasn't anything to any of his step-children or their children.[9]
