Dolores Monica Van Heel was born October 14, 1929 in Freeport, Minnesota to Peter and Katherine (Notch) Van Heel. Lori completed school through the eighth grade, electing to stay at home to take care of her ailing mother. On June 10, 1950 she was united in marriage to Ervin Tamm at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. The couple moved to the family farm where they raised their family. This is where she honed her skills of cooking, baking, and gardening, and will be remembered for saying, “Just eat what you can!”

While her husband was in the nursing home, Lori earned her G.E.D. which she was very proud of. She worked at the Albany Area Jr. High School Library, Mother of Mercy Nursing Home, and the Albany Enterprise. She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany, St. Ann’s Society, and the Christian Mothers. Throughout her life, Lori enjoyed dancing, sewing, playing cards, especially with her siblings whom she was so very close to, watching Lawrence Welk and westerns, and bird watching. Her favorite birds were the wrens and goldfinches.

Lori had the gift of opening up her heart to anybody. Her legacy will be remembered as always putting everyone else first, before herself.

Survivors include her children, Kenn (Mary) Tamm of Avon, Don Tamm (Linda Pierskalla) of Sartell, Rick (Deb) Tamm of Albany, Shirley (Kenn) Burr of Albany, and Glen Tamm (Leah Lahmann) of Avon; 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Kyle, Brandon, Kieran, Brittany, Katelyn, Nikki, Alyssa, Kristian, Monica, Aaron, and Danielle; nine great-grandchildren, Dylan, Henry, Brady, Annabelle, Iylah, Wayne, Jr. “Charlie”, Nolan, Tyson, and Madelyn.

Lori was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers and sisters, Walt Van Heel, Eleanore Webber, Lee Van Heel, Marcella Schreifels, Juletta Hentges, Ernie Van Heel, Ray Van Heel, and Lucille Eibensteiner.
