About Domingo Nunes
Served in the South African Army's North African campaign, captured by the Italians, where he had a whale of a time, being of Madeiran(Portuguese)parentage, his temperament was so like that of the Italians,he got on with them like a house on fire!Reached the rank of Sergeant-Major(he could really yell of course, according to Monica his wife). Only knew him for a short time as wife's aunt Monica's husband.Nothing if not a colourful character, fond of betting on the horses & plenty of wine at the family lunches, not to mention the banter.Once said to me"pardon my bullshit,boy"-but I told him I was used to it,my father having been a great joker too. Christmas lunches and other dinners were mainly cooked by him,his 2 sons also being keen cooks, they definitely loved food!A family tradition according to son,Francisco.
