Donald Bruce Hershberger

WOOSTER -- Donald Bruce 'Duck' Hershberger, 76, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014, at Wooster Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was genuine and caring and made everyone he encountered feel special. He had a tremendous amount of love and pride for his family and was friends to many. His presence will be greatly missed.

He was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Funk, Wayne County, the son of Alton Bruce and Hazel Ferne Siegfried Hershberger, and married Janet Wagner on June 21, 1959. She survives.

He had worked at the Wooster Brush Company for 39 years, retiring in 2000, and was a member of Wooster United Methodist Church, the Wayneaires, numerous barbershop quartets, most recently with Accent where he sang bass, and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed golf, spending time at the pool and time with his family and friends. He served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1955-58.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Jackie Hershberger (Dale) McKee of Shreve, Jeffrey Hershberger of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Jody Hershberger (Dan) Starcher of Wooster; grandchildren, Joel (Brittney) McKee, Jessica (Joey) McKee Franklin and Devon Starcher; a great-grandson, Kade McKee; and a sister, Annabelle (William) Moore of Wooster.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received Monday, June 16 from 5-8 p.m. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mcintirebradhamsleek.com.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 17 at 1 p.m. at Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 N. Market St., Wooster, with the Rev. Larry Black officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Shreve.
