Donella ( DOLLY ) Cassidy

Travelled on S.S. Samaria ex Quebec with her daughter Donella (same Name then 15 years old ) to visit firstly with Bernard Lucas in Keighlay , Yorkshire arrived Southampton May 18th,1953.

Later Stayed with Annie "Cassidy " O'Callahan during visit to Glasgow .Daughter Donella ( then 15 ) was taken to a dancehall in Glasgow with her COUSIN Stephen Kelleher he being aged 20 .

This VISIT and the information exchanged on the Glasgow stay was NO DOUBT the Catalyst for Bernard Kelleher to emigrate to CANADA in September of 1953 to Stay in Kelowna with his Family with his Wife"s Uncle CHARLES CASSIDY and his wife DONELLA.

This ongoing dialog and Bernard Kelleher's ability to land a teaching job in VANCOUVER no doubt encouraged MY FATHER ( also a teacher ) to take up a teaching job in Vancouver in 1956 to be joined by his family in July of the following year ( 1957 ) .

Such a long time to unravel the reason or motivating factors that moved my father to take such a LEAP and emigrate himself. The groundwork was already LAID as detailed ABOVE but a story that neither he nor my mother ever TOLD before they PASSED AWAY . I have a theory as to WHY NOT !
