Dora Alanen, 92, loved and respected pianist and piano teacher at North Park Univ. for 35 years, active in the Finnish-American community, passed away Aug. 14, 2008.
Loving daughter of the late Olga Sillman Hietala Alanen and stepfather, Herman Alanen.
Dora, a Canadian native who became a naturalized U.S. citizen on Dec. 6, 1949, graduated from the Chicago Musical College, where she studied under Dr. Rudolph Ganz and made her debut recital at the Chicago Musical Guild.
Memorial Service Sunday, Aug. 24, 4:30 p.m. at the Methodist Home, 1415 W. Foster Ave., Chicago, IL, 60640. Dora's cremated remains are to be interred in her mother's grave in Canada. Donations may be made in her name to Methodist Home for a new piano. Arrangement by Cremation Society of Illinois, 773-281-5058
