Birth

Dorcas Mulford was born on 6 March 1691/2 in Orleans, Banstable, Massachusetts to Thomas Mulford (1665-1747) and Mary Bassett (1666-1742).

Marriage

She married Elisha Eldredge Jr. (1690 - 1754) in 1711 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts.

Research Notes

The date for the birth for Dorcas has been changed from 6 Mar 1692 to 6 Mar 1693. Anna (Mulford-22), the older sister of Dorcas, was born 28 Jul 1691 which would put just 8 months between the two births. There is a hand written note in the Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988 for Anna Mulford that shows the birth of Dorcas as Mar 1693, although the three appears to be written over a number and there is a /2 below the three.[1] Furthermore, there is a citation at Family Search about the history of the Eldredge family that lists the birth of Dorcas as 6 March 1693. [2] The reference lists her complete death date as 31 January 1755.

Owing to the church troubles at Billingsgate (Eastham) Elisha, by church letter dated 21 Jun 1741, had himself and children baptized inTruro, where he is on the church records as "Elisha Eldredge Jr. of Eastham." He and his wife Dorcas were admitted to the church at South Mansfield, by letter, 21 Jun 1741.

Marriage is asserted to have been at Truro, 1711, but is not in Truro or Eastham VR. Bethiah, David and Jemima are listed by NEHGR 51:48-9 (1897), but without dates or locations. Deborah is last on the list of children baptized. Deborah, David and Tamesin are not on the baptism list.
