Doris (Daigle) Voisine, 83, of Plainville, passed away on Sept. 21, 2012, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. She is now reunited with her husband, Norman "Charlie" Voisine, who predeceased her in 1990.
Doris was born in Soldier Pond, Maine, on June 1, 1929, one of 13 children to the late Emile and Rose (Laferriere) Daigle. Raised in Maine, she married the love of her life, Charlie at the age of 17. They relocated to Connecticut shortly after, where they raised their family of four and shared over 40 years together. Doris devoted many years of hard work as a machinist for Stanley Tool, from where she retired in 1991. She maintained a very active and organized lifestyle, with plans for each day of the week, playing BINGO, card games, or dinner with friends, with Sundays and holidays being her favorite when she could be surrounded by her adored family and share with them her delicious cooking. Doris will be missed dearly, will remain an inspiration for her great strength, love and compassion, and leaves her family with many cherished memories.
She is survived by her children, Robert and his wife, Elcina, of New Britain, Gil and his wife, Kathy, of New Britain, and Peggy Marut and her husband, Michael, of Plainville; and her daughter-in-law, Judy Voisine, of Plainville. She was the beloved Memere of John, LeeAnn, Shawn, Jason, Shanna, Becky, Joshua, Scott, Lynn, Stephanie, Melissa, and Emily and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters, Lorette Vogel, Irene Plourde, and Adrianne Daigle; her brother, Gilman Daigle; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Clayton; her great-grandson, Aidan; and eight siblings.
Funeral services in celebration of Doris' life was held Sept. 26, at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church.
