About Dorit Simcha Giro

Mrs. Dorit Giro, a mother of 7 children in Crown Heights and sibling of the Benabo family, passed away. By COLlive reporter

Dorit Simcha Giro, a devoted mother of 7 children and resident of Crown Heights, passed away Shabbos morning, 30 Menachem Av 5772.

She was 45.

On Friday afternoon, an urgent Tehillim notice was posted on COLlive.com asking the public to pray after she was admitted in critical condition to the Intensive Care Unit for a severe infection.

"I can't believe she is not here," a devastated friend of hers said Motzoei Shabbos. "She was an amazing friend. Kind, generous and simply one of a kind."

For many years her apartment was an open door to guests coming to New York to spend the month of Tishrei with the Rebbe, and year-round.

The Israeli-born Dorit moved to Crown Heights some 26 years ago and has been active and known in the Hebrew speaking community, along with her parents Asher and Alice Benabo and siblings Iris Sherman, Shimon Benabo, Itzik Benabo and Smadi Benabo. Another sister Ayala Maman lives in Yavne, Israel.

She is survived by her husband Ronen Giro, their children (ages 21 to 8) Mendy, Chani, Mushki, Srulik, Esti, Yitzchaki and Rivki; her parents and siblings.

The levaya will take place Sunday from Shomrei Hadas chapel at 10:30 AM, passing 770 Eastern Parkway at 12 noon to the Old Montiforie cemetery in Queens where she will be buried.

The family will be sitting Shiva at the Giro residence, 1365 Carroll Street Apt 3CC (corner Kingston Avenue).

Baruch dayan haemes.
