About Dorothy Crocker

According to Heraldic church notes from Cornwall : containing all the heraldry and genealogical particulars on every memorial in ten churches in the deanery of East, with copious extracts from the parish registers, annotated with notes from wills, etc. by Jewers, Arthur John, 1848- Dorothy is a daughter of Francis Croker.
"This Dorothy married Francis Fox, of St. Germans. See pedigree of Fox privately prmted. Her descendant, Francis Fox, Esq., surgeon, of Plymouth, possesses at this time a prayer-book with her name, "Dorothy Croker," written in it. Also a small panel, found on making alterations in an old house belonging to the family at St. Germans, with the arms of Fox : Eiin. on a chev. az. three foxes' heads erased or, on a canton of the second a fleicr-de-lis of the third."

NOTE: No evidence has been seen to support the claim that Dorothy wife of Francis Fox of St Germans was a daughter of William Kekewich and Jane (Coode). Burke in 1838 calls her "Dorothy Kekewich, a relation of the family of Kekewich, of Exeter, whose house at Catchfrench, in St. Germans Parish, being then vacant, became his residence on first settling in Cornwall. This lady, it appears, had little or no dower ..." but Burke in 1939 calls her "Dorothy, a connection of the family of Kekewich in Exeter ...". William Kekewich in his will (above) mentions none of his children by name but does leave £400 to each unmarried daughter. His children's christening and marriages are mainly well documented.
