Dorothy "Dora" Lee (Schmidt) Robertson

Dora Lee (Dorothy Schmidt) Robertson, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Nathan Adelson Hospice, after a eight-year battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Catharine to Jacob and Elizabeth Schmidt.

She was a 1943 graduate of Hays High School and a resident of Las Vegas since 1959. She was member of the Retired Officers Wives Club and held several leadership positions. Before moving to Las Vegas, she lived for several years in El Paso Texas and three years in Japan on the U.S Air Force Base at Itazuki near the city of Fukuoka, on Kyushu, with her husband Emery. She was a Cub Scout den leader and active in Las Vegas community organizations, especially the Humane Society. She was a member and volunteer at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Las Vegas since its beginning in early 1960.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Emery S. Robertson, Las Vegas, two sons, Frank Robertson, Las Vegas and Mark Robertson and wife, Susie, Reno; a daughter, Bethany Heinlen and husband, Jon, Potterville, Mich.; two brothers, James Schmidt and wife, Lillian, Fountain Hills, Ariz. and Harold Schmidt and wife, Mary, Topeka; a sister, Anita Stang, Great Bend; three grandchildren, Bronwyn Knox and David Lawler, New York City, Ian Knox, Rochester Hills, Mich., and Joseph Robertson, Reno; a great-granddaughter, Regan Lawler, New York City; many nieces and nephews; and her pet cat, Boots.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Alois Schmidt, and five sisters, Leopoltina Mathes, Helena Brodecker, Frieda Boies, Ernestine Anderson, and Lydia Brull.

Service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Palm Summerlin-Funeral Home, Las Vegas, Nev.; additional services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Catharine; inurnment in St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery. Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine, Hays, is in charge of local arrangements.
