About Dorothy Helen Tressler

A Pennsylvania woman killed in a two-car highway accident yesterday in Garrett County.She was in a funeral procession which was enroute to Terra Alta, WVa., for the burial of an alleged murder victim. Mrs. Dorothy Helen Tressler, 50, of Quecreek, was pronounced dead at Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville by Dr. James Feaster, Garrett County medical examiner. Four other persons were seriously injured, two critically. The funeral procession was en- route to a cemetery in Terra Alta from Somerset County, Pa for the burial of Frank Champanella, formerly of Hooversvtlle, Pa. Champanella was shot and killed in Cleveland last week. His wife, Mary K, was held on a murder charge.

Mrs. Tressler sustained a fracured skull and multiple body inuries and apparently was killed out right in the accident, said police. The four injured were taken to Meyersdale Community Hospital, where their conditions were pronounced unchanged today. John A. Tressler, husband of victim, 54, driver of one of the cars, sustained a possible fractured pelvis, fractured left ankle and a laceration of his scalp and vas reported in "critical" condiion today. Also in "critical" condition at the hospital is Margaret Ellen Beeman, 52, of Vindex, who sustained a severe laceration of her scalp and was in shock when admitted. William Champanella, 58, of Hooversvilte, Pa. sustained muliple lacerations and contusions; and was reported in "fair" condition at the hospital.

Marion R. Self, 55-year-old Dayton, Ohio, school teacher, who was driving alone in the other car involved, suffered a fractured eft upper arm and leg, severe laceration of her scalp and multiple contusions. She was reported in "serious" condition today. The accident occurred about 11:05 a. m., according to Mary land State Police, who said the car being operated by Mr. Tressler was traveling east on Route 40 in a funeral procession about 10 miles east of the Pennsylvania line. The car being driven by Marion Self was headed west on the high way when she apparently lost control of the car, dropped off the north shoulder and swerved across the center line into the Tressler car. Trooper J. F. Powers was assisted in the investigation by Trooper C. E. Loeber and Sergeant Harry-A. Holsinger. The injured were taken to the hospital by the Newman Funeral Home.
