Dorothy M. Grimes

ORRVILLE -- Dorothy M. Weidman, 94, of Orrville died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center, Orrville, following a period of declining health.

Dorothy was born on May 14, 1922, in Carroll County to the late Ellery Tope and Etta Mae (Moser) Grimes and graduated from Orrville High School, class of 1940. She married Carl C. Weidman on Feb. 13, 1944, in Orrville.

She graduated in the 1970s from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and worked as a second-grade teacher for Maple Street School in Orrville for 16 years.

Dorothy was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was an avid gardener, a member of the Evergreen Garden Club and was a 4-H adviser for nearly 20 years. She was also a member of the Wednesday Club. She enjoyed cooking, canning and quilting. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and all but one Canadian province and camped locally with a camping club.

Surviving are her husband, Carl Weidman; two daughters, Linda (Rolf) Nelson and Carol (Al) Yeagley, both of Orrville; son, Craig (Diane) Weidman of Elkhart Lake, Wis.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Dave) Lammrish, Laura (Rob) Allard, Nick (Lisa) Yeagley, Jeff Weidman, and Brad (Stacie) Weidman; four great-granddaughters, Alaina and Madalyn Yeagley, and Savannah and Everly Weidman; and a sister, Marie Rutledge of Wooster.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Grimes.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Christ United Church of Christ, 301 N. Main St., Orrville, with the Rev. Randall L. Gehres officiating. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
