About Dorothy Yvonne Kaufman
Yvonne Kaufman, 71, of Grangeville, died Friday at Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville of causes related to age. Kaufman was born Aug. 6, 1927, at Grangeville to John and Dottie Mae Hall Snodgrass. She attended schools at Mt. Idaho and Grangeville and graduated from Grangeville High School in 1945 as valedictorian of her class.
On Dec. 22, 1946, she married Vern V. Kaufman at Grangeville. The couple lived there until 1962 when they moved to a number of Northwest cities. They returned to Grangeville in 1966 and later divorced. She worked as an office manager for Wicks Ida-Pine Mills and retired in 1992. Kaufman enjoyed gardening, reading, bird watching, needlepoint and sewing. She enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family.
Survivors include one son, Jack Kaufman of Snohomish, Wash.; two daughters, Lois Jean of Boise and Laura Williams of Home Valley, Wash.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Scy Cole of Clarkston, Eloise Earp and Clare Olmsted of Grangeville and Shirley Vandervort of Lewiston. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard; four brothers and two sisters.
At her request no services are planned. A private family inturnment will take place at Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville. Arrangements are under the direction of Noland-Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Syringa General Hospital Home Health Dept., in care of Noland-Blackmer Funeral Home at 305 No. Mill St. in Grangeville.
