Douglas "Dewey" Balfe, 64, of Kilkenny, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Wednesday, June 11 from 4:00–8:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral Service will be at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Burial is at St. Michael's Cemetery.Dewey was born on February 29, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended St. Canice Catholic Grade School and Waterville High School. He married Sharon Grundhoffer on February 8, 1964 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. He worked road construction and farmed. He enjoyed his family, horses and card playing.He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Julene (Pat) Halling of Montgomery; sons Lee and Dustin (Julie), both of Kilkenny; sisters, Delores Weed of Northfield and Darlene (Ken) of Waterville; sister-in-law, Sharon Balfe of Inver Grove Heights; brother, Gordon (Jacqie) Balfe of Minneapolis; half-brother, Mike King of Washington; half-sister, Sharon King of California; and grandchildren, Tim, Rachelle and Derek Balfe, and Jordan Gilomen.Dewey is preceded in death by his father, Mike Balfe; mothers, Hattie Balfe and Anna Marie King; brother, Herbert Balfe; and half-sister Connie Pomeroy.
