The Salt Lake Tribune - May 28, 1995, Deceased Name: DOUGLAS PERRY BLACKBURN -- MINERSVILLE- Douglas Perry Blackburn, age 81, passed away on May 27, 1995 in Milford, Utah. He was born June 30, 1913, in Minersville, Utah, to Anthony Hugh and Ida Hope Myers Blackburn. He married Elma Mary Thompson on November 30, 1932, in Adamsville, Utah, and their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on January 22, 1966.

Doug was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion in Minersville. Doug was an honest, hard working man all his life. He was a friend to all. He loved to work in his garden and make his yard beautiful. Even throughout all his sickness, he worried about his yard and garden. He was a great example to his family and friends. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather. He was gentle, kind and very patient.

He is survived by his wife, Elma, of Minersville; children, Ann Louise and Wayne Christensen, of Billings, Montana; Hugh Earl and Shiela Blackburn, of Beaver; and Irma Jean Edwards, of Elko, Nevada; 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom and Dorothy LeFevre, of Craig, Colorado; and Dyke and Mary Jane LeFevre, of Hooper, Utah; sisters, Gae Murdock, of Beaver, Jean Dean, of Salt Lake City; Margie and Elmer Johnson, of Adamsville; and Shirley and Frank Terry, of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Muir, sister, LaRue Turner and grandson, Danny Blackburn.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 1995 at 2 p.m. in the Minersville 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the church Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12-1:30 p.m.

Interment will be in the Minersville Cemetery under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary.
