ALEX H. VEAZEY JR. HENDERSONVILLE - Dr. Alex H. Veazey Jr., 68, of 203 Willow Oak Lane, died Friday morning, April 8, 1994, at his residence atter a period of declining health. Dr. Veazey was a native of Goldsboro, a son of the late Alexander H. and Marv Exum Burt Veazey Sr. He was a former resident of Raleigh and has lived in Hendersonville since 1956.
He was a graduate of theUniversitv of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,where he received his A.B. degree in chemistrv in 1947. He graduated from the Universitv of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1951. He served a tour of dutv in the U.S. Naval Medical Corp in Philadelphia and Hawaii. He practiced as a familV physician in Hendersonville from 1956 until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a former chairman, of the Administrative Board and·a former lay leader. He was a former member,of the Hendersonville Kiwanis Club and a former Chief-of-Staff of Pardee Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Anne Fisher Veazev; daughter, Anne V. Bethea of Montclair, Va.; sons, Lex H. Veazev and Dr. Daniel B. Veazey, both of Hendersonville, Lt. Lee F. Veazey, USN of Norfolk, Va.; brother, Dr. P. Burt Veazev of Sarasota, Fla.; maternal aunt, Lucv Burt of Louisburg; seven grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 1994, in the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonvi lie, with Dr. D. P. Smotherman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Dale Cemeterv.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturdav at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's of choice. Thos. Shepherd & Son is in charge of arrangements.
