Dr. B. Clifford Pringle Jr.

Dr. B. Clifford Pringle, Jr. M.D. passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, May 21st at his west Mobile residence with his wife of 60 years, Billie, by his side. Cliff was born on December 5, 1931. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, B. Clifford Pringle, Sr. and Addie Johnston Pringle. Cliff was born in Sims Chapel Alabama. Cliff served in the Korean War as a Military Policeman. Upon his return, he enrolled at Spring Hill college to study pre-med. He attended medical school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After completing medical school, Dr. Pringle practiced General Medicine in Mobile before returning to UAB to complete a residency in Radiology. Dr. Pringle practiced Diagnostic Radiology in Mobile from 1971 until his retirement in 2000. At Providence Hospital, he introduced the procedure of catheter angiography in Mobile in 1971. He subsequently was an early advocate for Compound Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). His background in the general practice of medicine gave him broad insight into the diagnosis of disease. His knowledge and advice won the respect of both colleagues and patients. He was a member of the American College of Radiology, Radiological Society North America, Southern Radiological Conference, and the Medical Societies of Mobile County and the State of Alabama. Cliff is survived by his wife, Billie, his daughter Elizabeth Pringle Johnson of Houston, Texas, and sons Joseph (Virginia) of Atlanta, Georgia, Christopher and Phillip (Jana) of Mobile. Cliff's grandchildren include Elizabeth's two daughters, Margaret and Caroline Johnson, as well as Chris' son Reeves and Phillip and Jana's children Tanner, Cannon, and Wesley. Cliff is also survived by his sister Anita McPherson of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. His brother, Ormond Pringle of Mobile and his other sisters Grace Sullivan of Sims Chapel Alabama and Ruth Eldridge of Mobile Alabama preceded Cliff in death. Visitation will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 24th from 10AM-12PM. Mass will follow at noon.
