About Dr Edward Loftus Hope Barry
husband first of Normandie E "Amanda" Black and secondly of Eliza E. He was the son of Sarah Jameson (Belcher) and Edward Loftus Hope Barry. Born in Cork, he attended the Rush Medical College in Chicago, was a Surgeon in the Illinois Voluntary Infantry both Company H of the 97th and the 130th. during the Civil War. He was then a general practitioner of medicine in Jerseyville, Illinois for the remainder of his life. He had one son and three daughters: Edward Loftus Hope Barry, III; Sarah Theodocia Cheney; Daisy D Barry and Norma Scott. (bio by: D C McJonathan-Swarm)
