Dr. Ellison F. Brown, MD

ITEM IN CAMDEN, MAINE NEWPAPER, OCTOBER 21, 1903

     There died in Centre Lincolnville, Saturday, a man who had been very prominent in that community the past 23 years - Dr. Ellison F. Brown. Dr. Brown had been in poor health for a year, but was able to attend to his office work until about a month ago. Nervous prostration was the cause of his death. The deceased was born in Searsmont, Me., Nov. 8, 1850, being a son of Benjamin and Deborah (Collamore) Brown.

He was educated in the county schools, Castine Normal School, and Bowdoin Medical College. He graduated from Bowdoin in 1880. At various times he taught school in Maine and New Hampshire, but after practicing medicine six months in Liberty, Maine, settled in Centre Lincolnville, where he remained to the time of his death. He was superintendent of schools there for years. Dr. Brown is survived by a widow, one son, Amon, who is a student at the University of Maine; two daughters - May B., who is a nurse at the Knox Hospital in Rockland, Me., and Maud, who resides at home; and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Moore of Chelsea, Mass. He was also a brother of the late George W. Brown of Warren, Me. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, Rev. H. I. Holt of Rockport, Me., officiating.
