About Dr. Francis King Ledyard
Concerning the explorer, John Ledyard of Groton, Connecticut, it is of interest to note that he accompanied Capt. Cook on his second voyage, and published a narrative of the discoveries which were of so much importance in settling disputed questions concerning the Antarctic regions. This voyage of three years' duration was begun in July, 1772. Ledyard engaged in other expeditions for discovery of conditions on the globe, and lost his life from virulent disease, in North Africa, in 1788, when but 37 years of age.

Looks like this Dr. Francis King Ledyard could be the brother of Dr. Henry Childs Ledyard -- so, two brothers married two sisters, in all likelihood.
