About Dr. H. H. Kung 孔祥熙
H. H. K'ung, banker and businessman who married Soong Ai-ling and who entered the service of the new National Government in 1928 as minister of industry and commerce. As minister of finance (1933-44) he was responsible for the currency reform of November 1935 and for the major financial programs undertaken by the National Government during the Sino-Japanese war. He was also known as a staunch Christian and as the founder of the Oberlin-Shansi Memorial Schools.
