Dr. Hyman Folkes

Connected with the state board of health and was instrumental in the establishment and upkeep of the Biloxi city hospital. Dr. Folkes was regarded as one of Biloxi's most influental citizens having taken a leading part in undertakings for the development and upbuilding of the city. He was one of the founders of the First National bank of which institution he was vice president at the time of his death. He was also president and general manager of the Biloxi Artesian Ice Manufacturing Company.
