About Dr. John Young Bassett

Dr. John Young Bassett, son of Dr. Isaac Bassett, Sr. of Delaware and died in Maryland and Daniela aka (Ann or Nancy, possibly her middle name) Davidson of Pennsylvania or Maryland (she died 1832 in Huntsville, Alabama).

Dr. John Young Bassett was a friend of U.S. Senator Clement Claiborne Clay of Alabama, son of Alabama Governor Clement Comer Clay.

Dr. John Young Bassett and wife, Isophena Thompson had several children, at least four sons and four daughters (see profiles for Isophena and her father Asa, for source links and information about their children):

Ill with TB, Dr. John Young Bassett travelled with Clement Claiborne Clay to Orange Springs, Florida, hoping the climate and water would help improve their health. However Dr. Bassett died the same year (1851) soon after returning to Huntsville. While in Florida he wrote a letter to Governor Clay in Alabama.
