Collection consists of transcribed letters and photocopied photographs.

Of note is correspondence between Manning Poole Alexander (1830-1915) and his wife, Pelona David Alexander, from his time in medical school in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the late 1850s to his service in the Confederate States Army as an assistant surgeon.

1881-1014 JH: There is Alexander, but not the Great, As good a doctor as is in the State; If you send for him he will always tell Whether he thinks you'll die or get well.

1882-0217 JH: Dr. M.P. Alexander is doing a considerable practice, judging from his traveling. He is a good physician, a high-toned gentleman, and worthy of public patronage.

1882-0317 JH: Dr. Alexander rode 35 miles on the 13th and visited several critical cases. How is that for business?
