Dr. Russel R. Baldwin, 73, a general medical practitioner from Mountain Lakes, NJ, died Thursday at home after a long illness. A native of Lancaster, he was the husband of Marcella Vig Baldwin. They were married for 48 years. Baldwin was a 1938 graduate of McCaskey High School and a 1942 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy supply corps. He studied at Swarthmore College before entering the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a degree in medicine in 1951. After an internship at Philadelphia General Hospital, he joined Community Medical Group, Boonton, NJ, in 1953. He served on the original staffs of Riverside Hospital in Booton and St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ. He supported the New Philharmonic of New Jersey in Morristown, NJ, and Playwriters Horizons in New York City. He had lived in Mountain Lakes since 1954. He previously lived in Montville, NJ. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, John of Tokyo, Christopher of McCool Junction, Neb., and Toby of Chicago; four daughters, Susan of Stamford, Conn., Rosemary of Chicago, Maria Sloan of Jackson, Wyo., and Joy Chen Lewis of Holden, Mass.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Harry W. of Petersburg and Robert J. of Lititz; and two sisters, Betty Brandt of Ephrata and Geraldine Ehrhart of Annville.
