Dr. Scott Allen Lerner, 52, of Mission Hills, KS, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2000, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, at Congregation Beth Torah, 6100 W. 127th Str; burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Dr. Lerner was the managing partner of Midwest Pulmonary Consultants, founder and principle investigator of M. P. Clinical Research, Medical Director of Select Specialty Hospital, Medical Director of the Lung Center at Bethany Medical Center and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Medicine. His primary hospital affiliation was St. Luke's Hospital, where he served as Director of Medical Education from 1983 through 1989. During that same period, he was a member of the Saint Luke's Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Lerner was the founder of Kansas City Physicians and Surgeons, L.L.C. The purpose of this group was to be a physician link to negotiate and organize patient and physician interests and concerns to insurance carriers.

Dr. Lerner graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1965; graduated Magna Cum Laude from Indiana University in 1969, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa; and received his M.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1973.
