Dr. Siebolt Hettinga, 90, of Van Meter, passed away March 27, 2018. He was born August 24, 1927 in Balk, The Netherlands to the Rev. Jochum Hettinga and Mrs. Willemina Hettinga-Smid.

After the war, he achieved a Doctorate in Logica.

Immigrating to the U.S. in 1948, he lived in Pella for 25 years.

He later moved to Van Meter where he spent the remainder of his life.

Siebolt spent 50 years in the plastics industry becoming well known for his expertise in multiple stations, low pressure injection molding. He achieved 100 patents. The Iowa Intellectual Property Law Association awarded him Iowa Inventor of the Year in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanine; son, George of Pella, brother, John Hettinga of Modesto, CA., and sister, Betty v.d. Woude-Hettinga of The Netherlands.
