Dr. Wain B. Eberly, D.O., 90, of Dalton and formerly of Mt. Eaton, passed peacefully to his eternal rest at 2:05 a.m. on January 12, 2012 at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton following a brief illness.
He served Mt. Eaton and the surrounding community as a family physician from 1960 until 2001. His life's motto was to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. In addition he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Viola (Horst) of Dalton; children, Judy (Mrs. Andy Miller) of Dalton, Elaine (Mrs. Lester Grove) of Littlestown, PA, Lauretta (Mrs. Geoff Yoder) of Alexandria, VA, and Jim (spouse Dr. Andrea Eberly) of Skillman, NJ; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Miller-Boschmann, Victoria Gonyou, Jenny Ransom, Shawn Grove, Eugene Yoder, Craig Grove, Derrek Kennell, Andrea Kennell, and Linnea Eberly; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Eberly of Rittman, Dorothy Steiner of Barwick, Ont., Can. and Wilma (Tillman) Steiner of Columbiana; brothers, Albert (Salina) Eberly of Roanoke, IL, Homer (Marian) Eberly of Orrville, John (Ruby) Eberly of Blountstown, FL, Clarence (Luella) Eberly of Kidron, Ray (Carol) Eberly of Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA and Glenn (Emma) Eberly of Townville, PA.
He was preceded in death by two children Morris Roy Eberly (1948-1971), and Kathleen Fay Kennell (1951-2001). Also preceding him in death were his parents, Clayton, and Carrie (Burkhart) Eberly, and four siblings, Lloyd Eberly, Ethel (Mrs John Amstutz), Mildred Eberly, and Earl Eberly.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Country View Chapel, 14890 Navarre Road (US 62), Wilmot. Friends may call on Saturday from 3-5 PM at the Spidell Funeral Home, 15900 Main Street, Mt. Eaton or one hour prior to services on Sunday at the church.
