Aubrey Drake Graham was born on 24 October 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His African American father is a musician and drummer. His Canadian mother is a teacher and florist who is of Ashkenazi Jewish heritage (Latvian and Russian Jewish descent).

Drake was raised Jewish in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where he attended a Jewish day school and was Bar Mitzvahed. Drake is a dual citizen of Canada and the USA.

He first garnered recognition for his role as "Jimmy Brooks" on the television series "Degrassi: The Next Generation". He later rose to prominence as a rapper, releasing several mixtapes before signing to "Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment" in June 2009.

His nicknames have included Drake, Champagne Papi, and Drizzy.

He is known professionally as Drake and is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor.
