About Duncan Campbell
http://genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00243258&tree=LEO
BIOGRAPHY He was a captain in a Highland Regiment of Foot and acquired the estate of Glendaruel, Argyll, which had been forfeited by his distant cousin, Colin Campbell of Glendaruel, for his connection with the Jacobite rising of 1715. With his father, he raised a large sum of money on the estate in order to help pay the Spanish mercenaries and to finance the ill-fated attempt of 1719, culminating in the battle of Glenshiel, in which he took part and later escaped to Holland. He married Elizabeth Campbell and, after becoming the parents of eight children, died on 11 October 1776.
