About E. Lola Thigpen
GEDCOM Note
As a child Lola waded in to school,at low tide, from Tidy Island. She often carried her brother on her back( told to me by Grandmother Bennett-Lola). When Gran And Grandpa Bennett lived out by the old Cortez Bridge, she would carry two buckets down the hill to get water. The water sat , covered, on a table by the stove(this was before they had running water at that house). They had an outhouse. They took showers at Annie Laurie's house. Peggy and I would fish off the dock out back with bacon. If we caught a fish, Grandma had to take it off the hook. We would come screaming to the house, holding the cane pole out in front of us. At low tide we would sometime walk the shore looking for fiddler crabs.
