About EVA
I always loved Eva. We were close in age and as close as good friends, even if I was the aunt. When I was little I used to wish on the first star every night for Marion & Archie & Eva & Terry to come to see us (in Santa Paula). Marion was lots of fun except I was a little scared of her when I was small, but she always made us laugh. I remember one time when they came to see us in a great, big, old car that had no top. It was called a roadster. Marion had painted on the outside of the door "BUT THIS IS PAID FOR." She piled all the kids in the car and drove us to Santa Barbara. There were so many of us I had to sit on the floor in the back seat and couldn't see out. Another day she drove downtown in Santa Paula by herself. All of a sudden she came roaring into the garage, closed the door and ran into the house. She said if a cop comes to the door tell him I'm not here. I guess she was going a little fast for downtown Santa Paula where they had a road sign "DRIVE SLOW AND SEE OUT TOWN, DRIVE FAST AND SEE OUT JAIL." I was so glad to get to see Eva towards the end of her life. She and a cousin (Jean?) came on the train and spent a week with us and we all had a great visit. Theda,,
