About Ebenezer Rogers

Descendant of Mayflower passengers Thomas and Joseph Rogers

Ebenezer Rogers was born on 17 February 1697/8 in Harwich, Barnstable, Province of Massachusetts Bay, the son of John and Priscilla (Hamblin) Rogers.[1] [2][3]

He married Hannah Cook on 24 March 1719/20 at Eastham,[4][5] the daughter of Richard Cooke Hannah (Smith?) Cook, born 25 January 1699/1700 in Eastham.[6] She was a descendant of Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins.[3]

He was party to an agreement made on 1 May 1739 between the heirs of his father John Rogers that son Joseph should have a payment from the estate of their "father and husband John Rogers, deceased," for service done since 1729. The agreement was made by sons Ebenezer, John, Joseph, and John Sr.'s wife Sarah Rogers, and Reuben Nickerson, all of Harwich; Jonathan Rogers of Yarmouth; and Benjamin Rogers of Kingston. The agreement was also acknowledged by Priscilla Nickerson, wife of Reuben and daughter of John Rogers, deceased.[7]

Ebenezer died in Lyme, Connecticut, between 28 July 1767 and 25 June 1769, the dates that his will was written and proved. In his will he called himself Ebenezer Rogers of Lyme, Connecticut, aged about 70. His will mentions wife Hannah; son Lemuel of Lyme to have land in Lyme and Harwich, Massachusetts, and to be executor; sons Ebenezer, Samuel, Caleb and Benjamin; daughter Patience Rogers of Lyme; children of deceased sons Zacheus, Joshua and Richard; children of deceased daughter Thankful Androus.[8]

His widow Hannah died sometime after Ebenezer wrote his will.[8]
