                      EBER W. CARLE
Died, at his home in Knoxville, Thursday, Sept., 14 at 8:30 A.M., Eber W. Carle, aged 79 years, 7 months and 17 days.
Deceased was born in Fayette Co., Pa., Jan. 27, 1820.  In 1840 he married Mary A. Pastora.  To this union seven children were born and three daughters are living.  They removed to Iowa in 1853. Mrs. Carle dying, he married a second time, his wife being Margaret J. Welcher.  To this second marriage seven children were born, of whom six with their mother survive to mourn the loss of the husband and father.  Mr. Carle had been a consistent follower of Jesus Christ for twenty-five years.
The funeral was held at the Christian church, Saturday, Sept 16, at 10A.M. conducted by Rev . J. C. Wright.  The internment was made in the north cemetery. ----end Buried Greenwood cemetery in Knoxville

Will written 29 Feb 1896.

       I, Eber W. Carl, of the Co., of Marion and State of Iowa, being of sound mind and desposing memory and of the age of 76 years, do hereby make, execute, and publish this to be my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me. 1. I direct that all my just debts, charges of last sickness and funeral expenses be fully paid out of my estate. 2. I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret Jane Carl my entire estate both personal and real during her natural lifetime to have and enjoy all the rents, profits and emoluments arising from them, vesting in her the full use and control and management of the same during her natural life. 3. At the death of my beloved wife I give, devise and bequeath my entire estate both real and personal to be equally divided among all my children now living and my grand daughter Ella Collins only child of my deceased son William Carl share and share alike.
    Lastly, I hereby appoint and nominate John Bush to be the executor of this my Last Will and Testament.

Eber West Carle was born on 27 January, 1820 in Wharton Twp, Fayette Co, Pa. to parents Abraham Carle and Elizabeth (West)Carle. He married first Mary Ann Pastorus, 5 Aug 1841 in Fayette Co, Pa.Seven children were born of this union,but only 5 were named in his obituary: William M Carle, Melissa J Carle, Savilla Anne Carle, Mary Elizabeth Carle and Margaretta Anne Carle. In 1855 by divorce petition the first marriage ended.

Margaret Jane Welcher became the second wife also in September of 1855. They had the following children: Eber Scott , Thomas Louis ,James Madison, John Benjamin, Anna Eliza, Mary Amanda and George W. Carle, all born in Knoxville, Marion Co. Iowa.

Arriving in Marion Co, Iowa in 1853 he was an early settler.
