About Eberhard, duke of Frisia

http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/HOLLAND.htm: After Godefrid was killed in 885, the emperor appointed the Saxon Graf Eberhard as duke and, after Eberhard was murdered in 898, his brother Meginhard was appointed. No later mention of this imperially created Frisian duchy has been found in the primary sources so far consulted and it is assumed that it lapsed as separate counties developed in Frisia. Meginhard is probably identified with the early 9th century Graaf van Hamaland of the same name.

Everhard Saxo https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everhard_Saxo

Everhard Saxo Everhard Saxo (about 830 - 898) was Count of Hamaland .

Everhard is first mentioned when he participates in 881 in a failed attempt to expel Vikings from Nijmegen . He was detained and released at a ransom. In 885 he was one of the nobles who performed the attack on Godfried the Noorman in Spijk . Everhard was rewarded by Karel de Dikke with the function of Dux (Military Commander , Duke of Defense Friesland) . [1] One of the other nobles who were also rewarded for their role in this murder was Gerulf . Gerulfs son Waldger tried to get inriver area create a own county around Tiel . This led to increasing tensions with Everhard. In the end, Everhard was killed by Waldger in 898. After Everhard's death, his brother Meginhard (III) was appointed by King Arnulf in his place as a duke. [2]

Everhard's parents were possibly Meginhard II (*? - before 880), Count of Hamaland, and Evesa (*? - after 881). Meginhard II had a brother Wichman II, who is the father of Egbert Billung . Everhard had a brother, Meginhard III (ca. 915), married to Hildegard, a duke in 898, [3] who followed him in Hamaland as a tomb, and a son Meginhard IV , who also became Count of Hamaland. Everhard Saxo also had another son Everhard, between 944 and 966 count of Drenthe and Salland. He was married to Amalrade, a daughter of Reginhilde and West Saxon Count Diederik.
