Edmond Served in the War of 1812, at the approximate age of 18 when he was working as a farmer. He served as a private in Captain Samuel Collier's company of the 54th Regiment of Virginia Artillery commanded by Col. Read in the War against Great Britain [War of 1812]. He states that he volunteered in Pittsylvania Co., Va., on or about the first of April 1814 for a term of six months and that he was honorably discharged at Crany [?] Island in Virginia on or about the first day of December 1814 as shown by the Harlan Co. court certification in June of 1873 of Hetty Brock Gross as the Widow of an 1812 pensioner. They were married in 1816 by George Brittain. Edmond had Black hair and eyes w/dark complexion and stood about 5'8" tall.
