Edna Kiziah Hainsworth was born in Marton, New Zealand, the daughter of John and Marion Hainsworth. Her father a paper hanger who developed lead posioning from the paint and became an invalid leaving the family to survive on £4 a week. he worked on the railways for many years.
she finished school when she was 13.
she saw Roy Townsend returning from war the on train in uniform. and didnt talk to him for a while afterwards.
They married and had 6 children, one of whom died in infancy.
Moved from Naike to Huntley.
Her husband Roy died in 1989
Lived alone in Huntley for 33 years until her passing
