  • Edward emigrated to Queensland with his wife Jane and two infant children Edward & Jane( Jean) & baby aboard "Duke of Westminster" 25 November 1897.
  • Upon arrival Queensland Edward took his family to Gympie just before 26 August 1899 ( from Electoral Rolls) for several years where additional children were born & where he worked in the mines with his brother in law (Jane's sister Mary's husband John Harris) till later moving on to Cairns mid 1908 with his family where their youngest child Bernard was born and where they commenced the family bicycle business.

  • The business initially operated from July 1908 (date of first of many advertisements promoting his products 'Brittania Cycles' and services) in Spence Street Cairns; then secondly moved to Abbott Street Cairns in July 1909 and finally to Aplin Street Cairns in January 1916 with their family home attached to business premises. The business and home remained in family hands following death of Edward Snr till shortly after death of his wife Jane and eldest son Edward when it was all sold.
  • Bosanko Street Manundra Cairns is named after our pioneering family who owned operated the bicycle works during the early 20th Century.
