Edward George Poole was born on August 8, 1924 in Tifton, Tift County, Georgia, a son of James Henry Pool (1859-1931) and Lettie Lee (Conger) Poole (1886-1982). He is the brother of Martha Elizabeth Poole Taylor (1904-1989); James 'Abram' Pool (1906-1922); Mary Frances (Poole) Semple (1909-1989); Samuel 'Mason' Poole (1911-1999); Henry "Wilson" Poole (1913-1970); William Lee Poole (1915-1983) and Rebecca Janet (Poole) Baessler (1918-1997).

He joined and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. In 1945, Edward G. Poole married Virginia "Ginny" E (Wells) Poole (1921-2010). They became the parents of Ted, James Wells and Keenan Lee Poole. They lived in Miami and he worked as a Plastering contractor. He was a member of the Miami Primitive Baptist Church of Miami for over 35 years.

Later, he moved to Jacksonville, FL and lived there for 25 years. Between Miami and Jacksonville, he was a Plastering contractor for over 50 years. He was a member of the Mahia Shrine and a Mason. While living in Jacksonville, he was a deacon at the Southside Primitive Baptist Church. Also, he was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

On January 16, 2005, Edward George Poole, age 80, died in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida and was buried in Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Tifton, GA.
