Rebecca Janet Poole (a) was born on August 19, 1918 in Tifton, Georgia, a daughter of James Henry Pool (1859-1931) and Lettie Lee (Conger) Poole (1886-1982). She was known as "Janet".

She had 7 brothers and sisters which included Martha Elizabeth Poole Taylor (1904-1989); James 'Abram' Pool (1906-1922); Mary Frances (Poole) Semple (1909-1989); Samuel 'Mason' Poole (1911-1999); Henry "Wilson" Poole (1913-1970); William Lee Poole (1915-1983) and Edward George Poole (1924-2005).

In 1937, Janet, age 18, moved with her mother and siblings from Tifton, Georgia to Miami, Dade County, Florida.

On Nov 8, 1946, Janet Poole married Fred Baessler III in Miami, Dade County, Florida, performed by minister J. Fred Hartley, with witnesses, Lona Lee Byrd and Orie E. Taylor, Jr. They became the parents of an adopted daughter, Janet "Jan" Lee Baessler.

On January 15, 1997, Janet Baessler, age 78, died in Hialeah, Miami-Dade County, Florida with burial in the Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Tifton, Tift County, Georgia.
