'Edward Hudson ' was born December 25, 1756 presumably in South Carolina. He signed an affidavit at the age of 80 in an effort to obtain a pension, and in it he stated that he had enlisted under General Francis Marion about 1779 and served under him for 4 years, being discharged upon hearing of the treaty (about 1783). After the war he lived in Cashaw County, Lancaster Destrict South Carolina. He married there to (Mary Ann) Wheat of Irish descent, they had 2 children in South Carolina, living there about 8 years. They moved next to Green County east Tennessee and lived there about 5 years. They then moved to Smith County, Tennessee and lived there from about 1796 to 1819 when they moved to Lawrence County (Now Randolph), Arkansas. He stated that they had ten children although only 9 are listed in this history. He died on April 4, 1845 at the age of 89 in Randolph County, Arkansas. He left no will and his son Edward Hudson was appointed administrator. It is believed that Edward Sr. and his wife lived the last few years of their life in the home of their son Edward. Mary Ann (Wheat) Hudson died Nov. 9, 1848. There were six sons and 3 daughters born to Edward and Mary Ann Hudson. The sons names were: John, William, Joseph, Henry, James Harris, and Edward.
