Edward J. Largent, Jr.

Edward J. Largent, Jr., age 78, of North Canton, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Waukegan, Ill. on February 8, 1936 to the late, Edward Sr. and Katherine Largent. He was a graduate of Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Ill. and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Edward then went on to earn his Bachelors Degree in Music from The Ohio State University, his Masters Degree in Music Performance from the University of Illinois and his PhD in Music Theory and Composition from The Ohio State University. He retired from Youngstown State University following 34 years as a music professor. Edward's passion was composing and performing music. He was also an accomplished pianist. He volunteered as the piano player for choir programs at Orchard Hill Elementary School in North Canton. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jackson Largent. Survivors include his two sons, Edward J. (Jacque) Largent III and Jonathan Richard (Tina) Largent; grandchildren, Chelsea Largent, Amanda (Ben) Nida, E.J.(Sarah) Largent IV, Lindsay and Jonathan; his sister, Katie (Peter Dickenson) Largent; and his brother; Jorg Richard Largent. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, Ohio. A brief remembrance service will be held at 12:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edward's memory to support the music program at Lake Forest Academy.
